How Are You Doing? Message From Our Director

We are reaching out to our Summit family throughout the community to offer words of encouragement and support during this trying time. It is easy to get swept into feelings of panic and fear as we are presented with the onslaught of news about this virus and the pandemic.

As a provider of mental health services, we want to offer some tips to help you keep your spirits up. During difficult times, it is amazing to see how the human spirit continues to find ways to continue to connect and help others. A single act of kindness can multiply and produce a larger impact in your community. While we are all exposed to the worry about the spread of the coronavirus, let’s work on the spread of kindness across the human spirit.

  1. Engage in one act of kindness a day and say an affirmation that compliments not only you but asserts to spread this message of kindness. What does kindness look like?
  2. Be kind to the environment:  On your daily walk,  pick up trash or dog poop that someone else left behind. Affirmation: I am kind to Mother Earth. I am making the world a better place.
  3. Be kind to your neighbors: Bring your neighbor’s trash cans in from the curb or throw their newspaper up on their front step. Smile and wave when you see a neighbor. Affirmation: I am a kind person who thinks of others. I am making the world a better place.
  4. Engage with others in a kind manner: Reach out to others via social media, a phone call, FaceTime, or even write a letter. There are many individuals who live alone and this is very isolating for those without close family. Make a plan to make outreach on a regular basis. Affirmation: I can support others. I am making the world a better place.
  5. Support those helping others: Consider a charitable donation to organizations that are supporting our community through food banks, shelters, and members of our medical community. Affirmation: I am helping provide for others. I am making the world a better place.

I hope these 5 tips help you and your family.  Let us know how it goes!
