You have, undoubtedly, heard of the reference to fight or flight.  It refers to a phenomenon that explains the biochemical response to danger or threat.  This video shows fruit flies responding during a fight or flight response. One flies slow reaction and delay is caused by the rapid release of the chemical messenger serotonin into its nervous system, which models a startle response. Fascinating to see this basic response!
