Dr. Leah Huhnke is dual- licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Psychologist. She completed her Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees at Alliant International University in San Diego and Los Angeles. As a therapist, she worked with children and adults including individuals with Autism, teen parents, and women with substance abuse diagnoses in an inpatient setting. Her doctoral training was focused in pediatrics and she trained at the UCLA Infant and Preschool Clinic, Pediatric Minds, and Keystone Pediatric Behavioral Health. She completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Western Youth Services focusing on psychological testing and therapy with children and families. She completed her postdoctoral training at Summit Community Counseling under the supervision of Dr. Karen Malm. Dr. Huhnke’s areas of clinical expertise include neurodevelopmental disorders (Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual Developmental Disabilities) and developmental trauma. Dr. Huhnke is also passionate about working with youth experiencing foster care. Dr. Huhnke primarily provides psychological and neuropsychological testing at Summit Community Counseling. She is also an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University and enjoys teaching future clinicians. Dr. Huhnke is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1).
