Have you heard of SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder? It’s a type of depression that comes and goes with the seasons. It generally begins in the late fall or early winter and goes away in the spring season.
It’s not a separate disorder from depression, however the treatment may be different. How do you know if SAD is what has you feeling down and depressed this winter? NIMH or the National Institute of Mental Health has a great article listing possible symptoms, risk factors, and ideas for treatment.
Remember, that only a licensed professional can give you an actual diagnosis and that Summit Community Counsel is here to provide you with the services to diagnose and treat this disorder.
